“Over the course of the millennia, all these ancestors in your tree, generation upon generation, have come down to this moment in time—to give birth to you. There has never been, nor will ever be, another like you. You have been given a tremendous responsibility. You carry the hopes and dreams of all those who have gone before. Hopes and dreams for a better world. What will you do with your time on this Earth? How will you contribute to the ongoing story of humankind?” ~ Laurence Overmire
I have met and communicated with a few relatives that I have discovered on ancstry.com and it has been great. While I was in Georgia I was able to meet a couple of them. Rhonda 'Renee'McCrae Arnette and her brother John Franklin McCrae, III known as Frankie. They are the neice and nephew of Leilia McCrae Jones, from the John Franklin McCrae leg of Mose and Matilda descendants.
Renee has a beautiful family with three handsome adult sons and one granddaughter. It amazed me at how much alike we are, our personalities. I detected that from the first moment I spoke to her on the phone. It was apparent when I met her and every time we talk on the phone. She is a happy and funny person, and I enjoy talking to her.
Frankie is the history buff in the family. His knowledge of African American history could really come in handy in this genealogy research. He was really excited to learn about all of this family history. We had a great time standing there in his living room before he had to head out to work. Yes the conversation was so lively until we didn't even bother to sit down.
I also went to Dublin on my way to Atlanta and met Al McRae and his wife Pat. They are descendants of Mose and Matilda's son Milbern.
Again our personalities just clicked, and it was like we had been knowing each other all of our lives. It was really great.
Al and Pat were putting the finishing touches on their new house which is absolutely beautiful. Since I was given the opportunity to view it before they moved in I just went on and picked out my room. I picked the large loft room on the top floor, and I agreed to share the large closet with Al because you know men always have the smallest closet in the master bedroom. lol
Pat shared with me that her best friend has two horses and anyone who knows me knows how much I love horses. She should have never told me that because I will be there more often than she expects. Not really, unfortunately, California is too far away from Dublin, Ga.
