Welcome

This site was created to chronicle and share my genealogy research. It is also a tool for others that are searching for their family members and to see if there is any connection to my family. This is a project that is going to take years to complete. It has been a labor of love, a great deal of fun and quite stimulating.

If you are interested in the various surnames, you can start with the ones across the top of this page or you can look for them in the categories section to the right.

Please leave comments on any of the posts/articles that you read or email me using the form on the right. I do want your feedback, I will try to answer any question, and I desire your interaction. Love to know how to improve this site to better serve you,

Willie Keitt

Posted by Tonya Keitt Kalule

This is a picture of Nathaniel Hawthorne Keitt from Orangeburg, SC. His father was Willie Keitt.

Yesterday I replied to a post that I found on one of the genealogy forums about Willie Keitt. I am in no way sure that it is my great grandfather Willie, but I am hoping that there is some connection. The post states that this person is looking for a Willie Keitt that had 8 children, but after the death of his wife, the kids were dispersed. My grandfather Nathaniel was born to Willie and Viola Keitt.

Nathaniel and his brother Romeo was raised by their grandparents (assuming paternal) Joshua and Elizabeth Keitt. In the 1910 census they lived in Orangeburg, SC with their grandparents. Nathaniel was 5 years old and his brother was 10 years old. At this point we are not aware of why they were living with their grandparents. We don't know what happened to his parents.

Is it possible that my grandfather had 6 more siblings?

What I do know is that there is a great deal of Keitts in the Orangeburg, South Carolina area. Hopefully I hear back from the person on the forum, this will give me a little insight for sure.
