There has never been, nor will ever be, another like you. You have been given a tremendous responsibility. You carry the hopes and dreams of all those who have gone before. New Connection to the Mose & Matilda McRae

Posted by TonyaKeittKalule

This is a picture of Mose and Matilda with a neighborhood child. ( This could possibly be Emma)

Mose and Matilda McRae are my great great grandparents, the parents of Susan Mary McRae. I learned that Matilda's mothers name is Susan Horn and Matilda's maiden name is Horn. This information came from her death certificate sighned by her son Ernest McRae. Scrolling through the many forums I found a guy by the name of A.J. Rawls who lives in Anchorage, Alaska. After sending him an email he responded through the forum and he has quite a bit of information on Mose and Matilda, some of it is pretty much the same information that I already have. The most significant difference is the name Viola McRae, daughter of Ernest McRae, granddaughter of Matilda Horn (McAllister) McRae.

Some new information shows Matilda McAllister marrying a Mose McRae in 1872 in Montgomery County, then there is an 1880 Census with them listed as married, but it doesn't show her name as McAllister. Now in the 1870 census there is a Matilda McAllister age 22 with a list of children, young children. One of those children is named Emma which matches the age of the Emma of Mose and Matilda in the 1880 Census. Another thing is that Mose and Matilda McAllister were married July 18th, 1872 and in the 1880 Census is shows that Mose and Matilda was married 7 years, well the census was taken on June 01, 1880 which was one month before July 18th. Now these are pretty close facts, which makes me wonder if Matilda had been married to a McAllister, before marrying Mose McRae, which means that it is also possible that Mose was also married before. This just gives me two extra things to look for, it goes on and on and on.
Hopefully I will be able to get in touch with Viola and learn a little more about this family. This research is very exciting but there is still so much to learn.
